The Importance of Giving Back

As the holiday season is upon us, everything tends to feel super crazy and overwhelming. We all have so many places to go and people to see, and that can be stressful. On the flip side, we're spending time with family, opening gifts, laughing with friends, and eating a lot of good food. Although the holidays are meant to be a time of joy and love- the reality is that for some, it isn't. In actuality, some people are sick and in the hospital, don't have family, or have no one to visit with. Animals are left in shelters or abandoned and abused. Imagine a holiday completely alone while everyone else is enjoying the season.

This can be a pretty upsetting and depressing reality. We tend to not want to think about these things while we're out enjoying our holiday because of how upsetting it can be. The truth is that a small effort on your part can make a huge difference in someone else's life. This goes not only for the holiday season, but all the time. The biggest limiting factor for people donating their time or money is that they feel that they cannot make a difference with their small contribution. That couldn't be any less true. Animal shelters and food banks work off of a whole bunch of small contributions coming together to create a support system for others to rely on.

We are fortunate enough to have access to the things that some people never have during the holidays. Taking 5 minutes of your time to help someone else have the little bit better of a holiday season will be beneficial for you and for them-- it simply feels good. Here are some ideas of things that you can donate this holiday season:
